Best acne treatment for oily skin & bad breakouts?

Question by Laci: Best acne treatment for oily skin & bad breakouts?
I have very oily skin & a lot of acne. I have tried Proactive, Clean & Clear, a LOT of over the counter products & nothing seems to work for my face. Right now I am using Exposed Skin Care & I have been using it for a month & a half now & i have seen no improvement in my skin. My other scrubs I am also using is Neutrogena Deep Clean, St. Ives Blackhead & Blemish, & Biore Pore Scrub. I do not over wash my face. I only wash it in the morning & at night. I wash my makeup off like I should but i haven’t found the perfect stuff for me. Does anyone know of anything that is great? I have also went to the dermatologist & there stuff did not work & i am not getting Accutane.

The Cetaphil brand is wonderful.. You should get their daily face wash.. Wash your face with it once in the morning and once at night. If needed, do it again sometime in the middle of the day.. In the morning after you wash your face with the Cetaphil, put on a moisturizing lotion, if you can find one with SPF, even better… Then you need to go to your doctor or dermatologist and get a good prescription cream or something so that you can put it on at night after you wash your face..

Remember, do not pick at your face… When you get that urge to pick, find something productive to do, go paint your nails, or clean the house, something to get your mind off the urge..
Drink lots of water… I learned this was very beneficial myself.. I used to only drink soda and had bad breakouts.. After I switched to water, my skin cleared up and I lost a couple pounds!!
Don’t touch your face!! No matter how clean you think your hands are, they aren’t!! Your fingers have lots of oils on them, so when you touch your face, all that oil goes to your face..

Hope I helped 🙂

  1. If you really want to control your acne, you need to change gears…especially if the over the counter drugs aren’t working. Remember, when you buy the products for your face, people are making tons of money- therefore, the products aren’t necessarily that good for your acne. They can even make it worse.

The most important thing for you to do right now is educate yourself. Do a little research online and find out what kind of acne you have so that you know how to treat it. For example, my acne could be classified as mild-moderate; I have many many blackheads that get inflamed, so I need to exfoliate often to help the blackheads.

Then I suggest you find a cleanser and moisturizer that works for you. Natural is the best way to go…apple cider vinegar diluted could be a cleanser and jojoba oil a moisturizer, for example. And tea tree oil is a good spot treatment (diluted if you have sensitive skin). For more ideas just look up homemade acne cleansers/moisturizers.
If you do purchase them at the store, here is a good website to look at:

Also, it is EXTREMELY important that you have a good diet. Doctors say that diet doesn’t effect acne…but honestly, anyone with common sense knows it does. Acne might be a sign that what you are eating is bad for your body- sometimes eliminating all dairy and/or gluten works to clear acne. First I would focus on just eating a balanced, organic, healthy diet with lots of water and fish oil supplements. This might not cure your acne, since acne is hormonal, but I promise that it WILL help it a lot.

And then don’t forget the little things…use clean towels, pillow cases, bed sheets…don’t put the phone on your cheek or rest your head in your hands…wash your hair regularly and keep it off your face…do NOT touch or pick your face…and have a positive attitude:) You know, I have this little tip…if you ice your face every night with an ice cube for about 5 minutes before bed (its cold!) it really helps prevent new acne as well as treat existing ones.

Acne is not all about cleansers and scrubs…it is a cry for help from your body that things inside you are not right. Hormones are going around, the stuff you are putting in your body isn’t healthy…you need to treat it both inside and out the right way. Only THEN will you be moving on to clearer skin.

I really hope I helped! (sorry that was so long.)

  2. You can try other brands products, may be that will suit you. I generally found drinking lots of water a day also helps keep your skin fresh & energetic. Last sunday I went to a clinic http://www.drdashevskyprinceton.com/ and there I found a doctor advise drink lots of water to get rid of oily skin. You can also check out this.
