What is a good facial cleanser for oily skin?

Question by StreetwalkerMJ: What is a good facial cleanser for oily skin?
I have really oily skin- mainly on my nose/forehead. What are some good cleansers for oily skin which aren’t too expensive. It doesn’t matter if they’re a bit pricey just not really expensive.
Thank you!

  1. Hi! 🙂 I also have very oily skin and I have a product that might sound a little strange but it is worth trying! 🙂 If your skin is oily it is obviously not dried out or anything. I use rubbing alcohol and it really does help with my oily skin. It is inexpensive and its also cleanses really well! 🙂 If you buy a pack of cotton balls and dampen the cotton ball with alcohol you can rub your face down. It doesn’t hurt unless you get it in a cut you may have on your face or in your eyes. 🙂 It wont dry out your skin if it is already oily. 🙂 You should give it a try. It works for me and I rarely have any pimples! 🙂
PS Since the cotton balls are white you are able to see all the dirt and oil that rubs off onto it! 🙂

  2. The best cleanser for oily skin is called Cuticura soap. You most likely won’t find it in a store. The easiest way to get it is to go to CVS and ask the pharmacist to order it for you. They can often get it in the next day. It is about $ 2.50 for a large bar, and if you only use it on your face, that will last a very long time. It is fine to shower with it if you like, then you will use it at about the same rate as any other shower-sized bar of soap. It has been around since the 1860s, and for good reason. It works!
Rebecca was right, alcohol works as a toner/astringent. However, it is very harsh, and can make your skin produce more oil! I recommend using something like Sea Breeze on a cotton pad or cotton ball. Witch Hazel also works very well, without over-drying skin.
You don’t need expensive cleansers and toners to have good skin. Most often, the “old school” products work as well or better than new, fancy stuff. With those new, flashy products, you are typically paying for fancy packaging and/or the product’s ad campaign. The old standbys don’t need fancy packages or advertising. Those of us who know pass on the secrets to the next generation. Word of mouth is still the best advertising around!
