Q&A: Does any have any home remedies for oily skin?

Question by thewraithkiller: Does any have any home remedies for oily skin?
Every year when the weather gets warmer, my face gets really oily to the point where I can stick a sheet of paper to my face. I was wondering if anyone has remedies for oily skin. No matter how much I wash my face, I have a shine to it.

  1. Okay, number one: NO more soap on your face! Soap dries out your pores and, especially if you are washing it more lately, sends your skin into overdrive oil production. If you’re going to wash your skin, use an soap-free cleanser. Aveeno or baby wash works nice.

You need to exfoliate your skin. When your face, or any part of your body, has dried out, old, dead skin cells on it, your skin will produce more oil to moisturize. Here’s what you need to do:

    1 part salt
    1 part sugar
    1 part olive oil
A few drops of tea tree oil
A few drops of lemon juice

Yes, I understand… OIL?!?!?! Yes, oil. Olive oil is extremely beneficial in every way – even with oily skin. Olive oil is extremely high in vitamin E and will help to rebuild your skin and balance out the oil production. The overproduction of oil can oftentimes be caused by a bacterial infection – even if it can’t be seen! Tea tree oil will help to get rid of any bacterial infections that may be present and, like olive oil, is extremely beneficial. Now, trust me… I KNOW it sounds sketchy, but it will help. Scrub your skin with this once/twice a week. Wash your face each morning with Aveeno or baby wash. Periodically throughout the day, your skin may become a little oily. This is COMPLETELY normal. Just take a damp washcloth and scrub it gently away. You will have star skin soon – promise!

Also, try investing in some Olive Leaf Extract capsules and take that once a day. Take a multi-vitamin daily.

EDIT: The girl above me is correct. The egg does work wonders. It’s high in Vitamin E just like the olive oil.
