Answer by Dr. Who
I don’t recommend trying home remedies as they are not very reliable and consistent.

The best moisturizing product that I’d recommend is: Neutrogena Moisture Oil Free Formula, Combination Skin.

– Moisturises skin
– Non-oily
– Non-irritating (no fragrance)
– Makes the face look matte (gets rid of shine)
– Does not cause more break outs
– Leaves skin refreshed
– Great for combination skin

It does what a moisturizer is suppose to do. If you want to hear other opinions about this moisturizer I suggest checking the link below.

Cetaphil Normal to Oily Skin Daily Facial Cleanser//?

Question by BC: Cetaphil Normal to Oily Skin Daily Facial Cleanser//?
Can this be used for Sensitive, Oily, Acne skin?
I have read so many good reviews on this product, but I want to make sure. Is this really a good product?
If this is, can this also be used with the moisturizer? If so, which one by Cetaphil? Please I need answers!!!! Thanks!!!

Answer by bobbie h
* All skin needs moisturizer. Your question tells you what kind of moisturizer you need, (For skin normal to oily)
* Cetaphil is a great cleaner and is marketed over the counter as the cleanser for any skin conditions that are “sensitive”. It’s original use was to gently clean away skin with conditions at treating hospitals. You can complete trust it to get your skin as deep clean as possible. With a creamy feel and gentle results many use it because they like how it lathers on, moistures the skin instead of that real taunt scrubbed face feel. and it is great for Acne! It will clean away blackheads, white heads and keep your pores clear of bacteria.
* After cleaning but before moisturizer use a toner. This is must! It will keep you pores in better condition by getting them out of the enlarged state that bacteria build up has caused. Look for one formulated for the normal to oily skin type. Buy yourself some cotton balls. This step in your cleaning is so amazing. It feels wonderful, is balancing to the skin. The cool temperature closes pores as tight as possible right after cleaning for the added protection of keeping out dirt and oils. I like Lo real brand.
* Moisturizer. Use common sense when you apply. One “drop” of moisturizer on your face is all you need for where your skin is normal. If your forehead, nose and chin get shiny and oil comes back within hours, then don’t use the moisturizer in that area. When you put just a drop on you finger , dab your finger to each cheek only then rub it in.
* Check out “oil papers”. These are probably only found at higher end cosmetic counters. I have a Primes Outlet where they carry make like Bobbi Brown and Smashbox. These place will have them. They are the best! You carry them with you. When the oil starts to appear in that T-zone I noted above, the tissue removes it. This the “wow factor”. These little tissue film like squares are just pressed gently against your face where oily. The tissue grabs and removes the oil without removing make up! They are carried with the cosmetics and are considered a must for fashion models with oil prone skin.

How can I avoid facial spots/acne in the sun?

Question by jeebo: How can I avoid facial spots/acne in the sun?
I’m 29 and very rarely get spots except for when I’m on holiday somewhere sunny and then I always get a massive outbreak of little whiteheads around my mouth and chin area.

I have quite oily skin so I’m sure that sun cream doesn’t help. Can anyone recommend a really light/sensitive/oil-free facial sun cream or do you think I should just keep my mush out of the sun completely?

Best answer:

Answer by Esmerelda Weatherwax
Your skin is probably getting a little dry in the sun and your skins is overcompensating with more oil. Neutrogena makes a pretty good oil-free sunscreen that my sister used to use. She had problems with oily skin for years and used that brand fairly regularly. Aveeno also makes a good oil-free sunscreen that is made to not block pores. Here’s a list of reviews for ten oil-free sunscreens that might help you with your decision-making: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/805835/best_oil_free_sunscreens.html?cat=5

Dry/sensitive skin has become oily!?

Question by Elle: Dry/sensitive skin has become oily!?
I’ve had extremely sensitive skin since I was a kid.. in result of that its usually quite dry.
However, its become slightly oily recently. Especially on my forehead/temples and eyelids!!
My daily cleanse, tone, and moisturising routine has not changed. (I use fragrance/colour free products for my sensitiivty).
Haven’t changed foundation.

My only suggestion would be down to my new pill. I’ve been on it for nearly 2 months. Its a progestogen (sp.) only pill.

Or… it could be because of the christmas/newyear period with the excessive chocolate!!!

However, its only recently become mildly greasy this past week and a bit.. but I’m not coming out in spots??
Uhh.. Im 19 lol, 20 this year..

Answer by baymast13
You are using too many products, for one thing. You are working hard to abrade the skin in hopes of clearing it. That is causing the redness and dryness (well, that and the Retin-A). The more you scrub away the mantle of the skin, the more oil it pumps out to compensate for it.
I do have the solution, if you are willing to trust me. I had evil, uncooperative skin, too. Adult-onset acne. I don’t think there’s anything worse! I tried everything, and every combination of things out there. The ones that sort of cleared up my skin, left it so horribly tight and dry, and it would be shiny by lunch-time. So I feel you.
Then I discovered a miracle. It’s called Juliet’s Clean & Smooth skin treatment. It is an organic, all-natural facial cleanser, full of all kinds of good-for-your-skin herbs and botanicals. It costs $ 18 + $ 7 shipping and handling. However, that is for a big, 15 oz. bottle, which lasts me for months. I only need to buy 2 or 3 bottles a year! It is not available in any store, as it is not mass produced in a factory. You can buy it on e-bay. Using Paypal or a money order, it’s easy.
When it arrives, I want you to trust me. Quit using all that other stuff (even the Retin-A). If your sunblock is a high-quality facial sunblock (non-comedogenic), you can still use it when you will be outdoors. You can dab a bit of moisturizer just under and around your eyes, and on your neck, if you wish after cleansing, but don’t use it all over your face.
You need to have an ample supply of nice, white washcloths. You need white because you will wash them with detergent and bleach after every use, no fabric softener. Bleach kills the bacteria left on your face-cloths after you use them. If you want, you can rinse them twice to remove soap residue and bleach smell.
At night, pull your hair back, and wet your face-cloth with very warm water. Put a good dollop of Juliet’s on your cloth (about 1 tsp. to start), and dab it on your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Now, start massaging it all over your face. You can add a little more water, or a bit more of the cleanser, if you need to. Concentrate on the areas where you have the most trouble, but go at it like you are giving yourself a massage, not sanding wood. Juliet’s has the consistency of a soupy scrub. Use care to keep it out of your eyes. It will not suds up like most cleansers you are used to, but that’s all right. The smell is not unpleasant, but it is different. That’s all those good herbs and botanicals. They won’t compromise the all-natural quality with artificial dyes or perfumes.
Once you have thoroughly massaged it into your skin, rinse well with warm water until it is removed, then rinse again with the coldest water you can get. That helps to close the pores. Apply the moisturizer around your eyes, and on your neck (if you wish), and hit the sack. In the morning, do a quick once-over version of what you did the night before. Most people begin to see results in just a few days. I can practically guarantee that within two weeks you will not recognize your skin!
There is a small percentage of people, about 1%, whose skin does not respond to Juliet’s. Odds are good that you’ll be among the other 99%. However, they do offer a complete money back guarantee. They ask that you use the entire bottle to give it a fair chance. If you are not happy with the results, they will will give you a prompt refund. So, you have nothing to lose but the bad complexion!
If you are like me, you’ll get hooked on this stuff. You’d have to hold me at gun-point to get my Juliet’s away from me. Do yourself a favor and try it. Feel free to e-mail and thank me after you do!

Cetaphil Daily Cleanser is amazing. The also have one for Normal to Oily Skin, but I’d try the regular Daily Cleanser first, followed by the Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. It’s helped me tremendously!

If neither of those work within several weeks, try the Neutrogena RapidClear Daily Foaming Scrub, followed by the Neutrogena RapidClear Fight and Fade Toner, followed by the Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream.

Dealing with oily skin?

Question by no: Dealing with oily skin?
Hi, I know this topic is WAY overdone, but I thought it would be easiest to get answers if the question was asked by myself! So, I’ve just started getting really bad skin in September, and I’m not sure what to do. I tries using lush (didn’t do anything), then Clinique 3 step care thing, but maybe I was using it wrong because my condition kept getting worse. Now I’m using Biore’s new acne scrub, then a thin coat of the Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel, then clearisil vanishing cream, but it still keeps getting worse. I mostly suffer from black head and nasty pink heads (in between full on zits and white heads). I also use Biore nose strips once a week. Oh, one more thing, I do not want to wear makeup, and don’t.

How can I have less oily skin and less acne?

Question by MJ: How can I have less oily skin and less acne?
I’ve had very oily skin for a long time. I wear makeup and even when I don’t, after washing I will be shiny within 10 minutes. I’m also extremely oily/shiny when I wake up. I’ve also had issues with acne and haven’t found anything that works for me, so I have bad redness and scars from that also. I’m too insecure to not wear makeup around anyone and I really would like to improve my skin and be more comfortable.

It just seems unhealthy and I really want healthy, good looking skin. I drink lots of water already and eat lots of veggies. Does anyone have any worthy products, vitamins, or successful remedies they would recommend?

Best answer:

You can order proactive. I hear it works wonderfully. Also try to keep your face clean, wash your makeup off before going to sleep at night with a small amount of soap, try tear free Johnson baby wash or dawn dish soap gets rip of oil. I would also make sure to read lables on the products so you aren’t making it worse. Hope this helped.

Try using a toner after washing your face. It really helps. Proactive is expensive and the infomercials are incredibly annoying but it works and it’s worth it. The toner in that is brilliant, but if your skin is too oily don’t use too much moisturizer. Hope this helps =)

Acne is a bacterial problem. The Clarisonic Mia is a physical exfoliation device that can remove dead skin cells – one component of acne formation. This product is overpriced and you can get the same results with chemical exfoliation such as salicylic acid and glycolic acid.

If you want to get rid of acne, you need a combination approach to skin care.

You need a gentle cleanser that can remove surface oil.
You need a gentle pH-adjusted exfoliant with salicylic acid to reduce inflammation, kill bacteria, and exfoliate within the pore.
You need a benzoyl peroxide medication at 2.5% or 5% to kill acne bacteria; best used together with salicylic acid.
You need a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day to prevent UV-inflammation and skin cancer.

——–

You can get rid of oily skin when you age and your hormone levels out. Prescriptions options are birth control and isotretinoin.

——-
Hydroquinone for dark spots.

What is the best product that is 100% natural for acne, blackheads, breakouts, oily skin?

Question by suad o: What is the best product that is 100% natural for acne, blackheads, breakouts, oily skin?
I am looking for a skin regime that you can use daily. It has to be 100% pure and gentle for your skin. It has to help fight 100% acne, blackheads, breakouts, sensitive skin, and oily skin. I need a system that gets rid of unclean skin and shows results no later than thirty days. I am not looking for name brands that are selling on t.v. or the over the counter medicine. I am looking for a acne treatment that is proven to work and nothing that has to do with pharmecticual ingriedents.

THIS WORKS FAST & CHEAP!!!
I used Tetracycline, Proactive, Retina A and had many expensive facials with less than good results. This has worked for me and many many other happy people.

Go to pharm., Drug store, or Wal-Mart, buy “PURPOSE” bar of soap – Blue box – Made by Johnson & Johnson – wash your face with this 2-3x’s per day. Also pick up a LOW strength Benzoyl-peroxide cream, apply the cream by dabbing to the individual blemishes…. DON’T rub it in works using a oxidation/reduction reaction. It will unclog
dry it out and bring it to a head…DON’T over use this or put anywhere else on your face. It will cause drying and make you look worse.

Salicylates such as found in regular aspirin among other products work very similar but also remove layers of skin…other over the counter creams with this product will dry out pimples but maybe too hash and cause surrounding skin trauma..
I have seen many people recommending crushing aspirin and making a paste which probably will dry out the blemish but again pretty strong and probably will cause more tissue damage and bigger scars as an anti inflammatory probably would take the redness out… again pretty harsh for sensitive skin.

Also, If need which probably will for moisture ASK FOR “NUTRADERM lotion” – the original not the new stuff, this works great and wont clog pores or leave a residue on your skin…Any lotion that is completely oil free and hypo allergic should work but again I recommend Nutraderm. I have heard from people online that “Purpose” also makes a lotion that is good, Neutrogena, and Nivea make good products also. I recommend Nutraderm from experience and my dermatologist.

“Purpose Bar” & “Nutraderm” are oil free and hypo allergic they contain no perfumes and are great for both men and women. I have also heard great reports of this soap helping improve skin tone. Some people recommend the “Purpose liquid soap” saying
that the bar did dry out their skin some. The rational behind using the bar is that there are no ingredients in it that will clog pores, and according to dermatologists they recommend the Bar. I have also heard good responses from “cetaphil soap”. These products are safe for all skin colors and tones. I highly discourage use of Proactive and other harsh chemicals for people with some natural color in their face due to the bleaching and drying effect it has shown in many many people.

Additional TIPS: acne, pimples, etc are frequently cause by a bacteria or hormone issues that cause clogging of pores. DON’T PICK POP POKE (your hands are the dirtiest part of your body) and will cause: infections, spreading of germs, more breakouts and scarring
DON’T EVER listen to people online who tell you to scrub your sensitive skin or use harsh chemicals such as: Lemon juice, vinegar, alcohol, etc… DON’T EVER use that APRICOT CRAP!!! DON’T USE PROACTIVE- this is expensive and harsh it may kill the bacteria because also Benzoyl based wash but will irritate skin and cause bleaching of face and neck…. Other similar treatments may work.. Also things such as Accutane but have SERIOUS side effects such as Major Depression, & birth defects in unborn children, among others
If you wear make up make sure it is oil free, & hypo allergic…Eating healthy…Drinking plenty of water.. Changing pillow cases freq. …avoiding dirty sports equip. such as helmets…can not hurt…Acne/pimples again are caused by pores/hair follicles becoming plugged up, this plugging then causes an inflammatory reaction – redness and infection (pimple)..black head is dirt or old oil trapped in pore, while a white head is the same thing you just don’t see the dirt instead you see white pus (lymphocytes that accumulate in the area to fight the infection) It has been shown in many studies this most often not caused by what you eat (chocolate etc… or how clean you are) but most often by either excess oils plugging pores or a bacteria on the skins surface. – Proactive works in some people because it is a strong Benzoyl peroxide based washed but is most freq. to strong
for people with sensitive skin – this is why alot of people get excessive drying and flaking, rashes, bleaching or breakouts from the product. Retina-A does decrease the bacterial growth on your face but also removes dead/living skin, this can work well in some individuals and has been shown to reduce wrinkles and scars but again I feel this is pretty harsh on sensitive skin prone to breakouts. If you choose Retina-A never use this product during the day only at night due to the sensitivity it will give you to the sun. You must also get a prescription for this product and I really don’t believe it is worth the damage it does to your skin. In some rare cases for very deep/large boils and cyst types
of pimples oral antibiotics maybe needed but I would first recommend trying “purpose” and a low dose “benzoyl-peroxide cream” along with a good oil free moisturizer “Nutraderm… etc” this does work well.

THIS WORKS FAST AND CHEAP!!! I no longer get expensive facials, take oral antibiotics, or even NEED makeup… I am very happy – Have very good skin… and have many many other happy friends… THANKS again to my WONDERFUL DERMATOLOGIST… TRY THIS!! GOOD LUCK…. PS. “PURPOSE” costs about $ 3 ———————————————
