Aromatherapy For Oily Skin Care

Article by David Yu

Aromatherapy can greatly help you with combination or oily skin care. Your skin will change throughout the course of your life, but usually everyone goes through an oily skin stage during adolescence. You can still need oily skin care all of your life. Sometimes you get combination skin, which are patches of dry areas like your cheeks contrasted with a really oily nose and forehead (called the T-zone).

First TipsYour aromatherapy oily skin care solutions will not work if you don’t eat sensibly and exercise regularly. You also shouldn’t smoke or drink excessively. You should be drinking six glasses of water, flavored water or herbal teas per day. Water keeps the skin hydrated and keeps the organs functioning more efficiently.

Wash with warm, not scalding hot water. Don’t scrub at yourself as if you were trying to scrape paint off a wall …#34; use your fingertips to massage in any aromatherapy oily skin products and pat gently dry with a towel. You only need to wash once or twice a day, unless you have been sweating or got excessively filthy.

So Many Scents, So Little SkinTherapeutic grade essential oils that work best for oily skin care are geranium, lavender, cedarwood, palmarosa, niaouli, juniper berry, tea tree, ylang ylang, cypress, grapefruit and myrtle. Most aromatherapy books will also include bergamot, but that often leaves skin way too sensitive to sunlight.

For acne, you can put diluted neat tea tree on the spots. However, the smell might knock you sideways, so use this sparingly. Some people prefer lavender instead. Before you use these, do a test patch on your skin to be sure you can tolerate full strength lavender or tea tree. Place a drop on your arm or leg, leave it there for 24 hours and see if anything happens. If nothing happens, then you’re good to go.

You can also use aromatherapy for oily skin care in the form of weekly facial steams. There are some facial devices available, but you don’t need it. Stick your face over a bowl of steaming hot water that has 5-10 drops of one of the oils listed above. Drape a towel over your head and keep that position for five minutes. If you feel faint, though, stop and try again next week.

You can use a toner for oily skin care called flower water. These are best bought rather than made. For oily skin care, you want witch hazel, verbena water, orange-flower water and cornflower water. These are often sold wherever aromatherapy products are sold.

Three Easy Skin Care Tips for Oily Skin

Article by Andi Allegre

Oily skin is not something to be proud of. Besides making your face feel greasy and shiny, oily is also a top cause of acne. With summer coming right around the corner, oily skin becomes a pressing skin care concern. Here are some easy tips to help you manage your oily skin:

Oily Skin Tip #1: Specialize

Different people have different types of skin with a particular set of needs. When dealing with oily skin, your objective is to control excess oil without drying the skin too much. That is why when you’re shopping for skin care products, look for those specially formulated for oily skin. Ingredients to look for include willow bark and zinc oxide. These two help soak up the extra oil on the skin while not stripping it too much of moisture.

Wash your face daily with an alcohol-free cleanser, but not more than twice. Then follow up with an alcohol-free toner to soak up the excess oil and minimize the pores. When the weather is particularly dry and/or you’re using acne medication, don’t forget to moisturize. Pick light moisturizers with natural ingredients like jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, or babassu wax that hydrate the skin without making It too oily or greasy, and don’t apply too liberally. If you’re using makeup, choose oil-free cosmetics for a more matte look.

Oily Skin Tip #2: Eat a Healthy Diet

While the exact mechanism remains unclear, scientists have observed that eating a lot of oily, fatty foods can make your oil glands produce more oil. That is more reason for you to steer clear of fried, fatty fries and chips. Replace your usual oil-laden snacks with healthier alternatives like fruits and vegetable sticks. Not only are they good for the body but they are packed with nutrients that help make skin healthier, radiant and clear.

A skin secret you should know is that there are vitamins that help manage the oil glands on the skin. These are vitamins A and B5. Good sources of vitamin A include carrots, mangoes, squash, broccoli and spinach. You’ll find vitamin B5 in legumes, whole grains, eggs and meat.

Oily Skin Tip #3: Supplement

If you have very oily skin that’s hard to manage, you can supplement the vitamins A and B5 you get normally from your diet with oral capsules and tablets. Vitamin A is taken orally in the form of isotretinoin in brand names like Accutane, Amnesteem, Clavaris, and Sotret. While this vitamin can drastically improve oil production as well as oil-related acne, it comes with serious side effects. A safer, non-prescription alternative would be to take vitamin B5 supplements. These control oil on the skin without shutting down the oil glands, and have little side effects. Don’t go overboard though – it’s better to try out other methods first before taking the supplement route. There you have it – three easy skin care tips to treating oily skin. Since there are a lot of products and brands marketed for your skin type, don’t be afraid to experiment until you find one that suits you.

Are Organic Skin Care Products The Answer For Your Skin Problems?

Article by Michael McIntosh

A recent study revealed that most people prefer using natural skin care products rather than synthetic formulations available in the market. When choosing a food item, consumers always prefer products that are healthy and nutritious. Hence, for our skin (which is the largest organ of the body) it becomes imperative to ensure that it remains away from such chemical based “so called” best skin care products. So what are the ingredients that are great for treating the skin and keeping the natural balance intact? There are several however, the latest substance that has been captivating the scientists and skin care experts is Manuka Honey.

Natural Ingredient – Manuka Honey

Perhaps, you’ve heard of this amazing natural product that is majorly found near New Zealand and parts of Australia. This nectar has been available in nature from a long time and evidences of usage in ancient health care regimes have been established recently. In fact, the epitome of youthful beauty and radiant complexion “Cleopatra” was said to have used this substance in her bathing regime. It also became useful in curing several ailments of the body and skin long before the invention of superficial medicines.

The power of manuka honey to treat the skin arrives from methylglyoxal, a therapeutic compound responsible for reaching the inner dermis layer and prevents skin ailments. However, the impact of this compound can also be seen on the body which cures some of the most difficult issues like stomach infections, treats wounds, boils, minor burns and pressure soars.

Manuka honey skin care is also an age-defying formulation. It works effectively to smoothen fine lines and wrinkles. It works as a sunblock in many products to prevent the harmful rays of the Sun from penetrating the body. The nourishing effect of manuka honey is extremely powerful which keeps the skin supple and helps it to retain its elasticity. It also treats acne and blemishes by reducing its appearance on regular application.

Choosing Skin Care Products

Even if skin care products claim to be natural, most of them are usually not devoid of synthetic compounds in their compositions. Your selection of a natural skin care product should be based on certain factors:

Skin TypeIt is crucial to know what kind of a skin you have. Whether, it’s an oily, sensitive, dry or combination, it helps to choose your product formulations.

Climatic ConditionsThe weather plays a crucial role in your choice of products. If you reside in a hot and humid country, chances are that your skin is exposed to heat and humid conditions. Oil-free products are therefore essential so that the skin does not produce excess sebum which blocks the pores on the surface giving room for dirt and grit to clog in.

Dermis IssuesThere are many people who suffer from several health issues like allergies, psoriasis, eczema and more. These ailments require special treatment and the consumer should perform intricate research to ensure that the formulations of the product they choose are good to be used on such skin textures as well.

Don’t Forget The Basics

Finally, keep in mind that when using natural skin care products, do not neglect the natural regime of food and water that you consume everyday. It is essential to eat proper foods at regular intervals of time along with suitable exercise routines. Drinking plenty of water is also great to work out a healthy lifestyle. Maintain proper hygiene and consult the doctor for any body ailments at regular intervals. This will then perfectly wrap up your healthy and natural skin care regime that will maintain the youthfulness of your skin for a longer time.

Skin Care For Oily Skin

Article by Audrey Jones

When I suggest an oily skin care regimen, I include a threepronged approach. You should look at dietary factors, the needfor regular cleansing and the use of oily skincare products thatwill balance sebum production, without leading to excessivedryness, in later years.

The dietary factors that are important in oily skin care includethe amount of fat that you consume, as well as the type. Thehealthiest diets limit fat consumption to 30% of caloriesconsumed. The best type of fat to consume is omega3, foundprimarily in fish. Other good sources include nuts andvegetable oils.

Everyone needs a regular cleansing regimen. But the cleansersdesigned specifically as oily skincare products are too harsh. Most of them contain triclosan, an antibacterial agent that, bykilling bacteria, cause an overgrowth of yeast and can lead toyeast infections. If they don’t contain triclosan, they reduceoil too greatly, which causes the sebaceous glands to produceeven more sebum. Sebum is what makes your skin feel oily in thefirst place.

The manufactures of most of the oily skincare products arecosmetic companies. They have a strange conception of how todeal with excessive oiliness. There is a big advantage to oilyskin, as opposed to dry skin types. Those with excessiveoiliness are less likely to develop wrinkles as quickly.

As we age, our skin’s layers become thinner and more easilydamaged. We lose elasticity. There is less blood flow and theglands secrete less sebum. The oily skin care regimen that youuse, today, can easily affect how you look for years to come.

Pimples and blemishes leave scars, but squeezing and scratchingmakes the scarring worse. Black heads are a problem for thosewith excessive oiliness. The cause is excessive oils thatcombine with dead skin cells and become oxidized, which blocksthe pores. The solution is regular, gentle cleansing.

One of the best oily skincare products is orange oil, followedby a moisturizer that balances sebum production, but is non-greasy and does not clog the pores. The reason for themoisturizer is to prevent excessive dryness and to reduce therisk of inflammation or redness that orange oil can cause.

The moisturizer should contain grape seed oil, as it is readilyabsorbed by the skin and can be used on all skin types. Mostpeople don’t think of a moisturizer as a necessary component ofoily skin care, but without it, you are doing everything thatyou can to protect your skin’s health and appearance, for yearsto come.

For women, I recommend maracuja, a special passion fruit extractthat regulates the production of sebum, preventing it frombecoming too oily or to dry. For men, I suggest Babassu, a kindof palm oil, because it performs the same function, but containsless oil.

I recommend different oily skincare products for men and women, because men commonly have excessive oiliness, while women haveexcessive dryness. If you take the right approach to oily skincare, you’ll look better and younger, too.
