Q&A: Will drinking green tea help me get clearer skin?

Question by Bexbabe: Will drinking green tea help me get clearer skin?
I don’t have the clearest skin and it annoys me. I have combination skin. I drink 8 glasses of water a day, I exfoliate every other day, take my makeup off when I come home, brush my hair off my face when I sleep, I wash my face every morning and night.. I eat healthily and I exercise quite a bit. Will drinking green tea help me have clearer skin?

No, green tea won’t help (nor will it hurt), but not putting the makeup on in the first place will help a lot. Also eating balanced meals, as opposed to fast foods, will help too.

Also get fresh tea from Japan, not the kind they sell here that’s been on the shelves for months.

  1. I dont think green tea will help w/ ur skin. But what I do know is green tea helps people lose weight and tea in general is good for ur health, in cancer wise. If by “clearer skin” U mean by acne. I know something that might help. I have combination skin also. Some products I used dried out my skin but I also found something thats so simple but works..
Before I go to bed I wash my face with soap and water but keep the soap on and wait for it to dry.
Then I wash my face again w/ soap and water but then I rinse it off. I’ve been doing this for not even a week and my skin has no more acne and wen a small pimple comes it makes it go away before its noticeable.
Hope this helps…sry if it wasn’t what u were looking for…

  2. Try Sea Salt. Seriously I know it sounds simple but it works. I’m 19/female and my skin is combination as well. At 18 I got ance for the first time and it wasn’t light acne either. Mainly my forehead got huge painful red zits all over. I’d have 10+ giant zits at one time.

I tried sea salt and after 3-5 days my skin was 95% clear. The redness was gone too. I just mix a little sea salt with water in a small dish and use a cotton ball or toilet paper to rub it on my whole face then let it sit for 2 minutes.

You can get 22ounces of pure sea salt at Walmart for 2 bucks. I’m sure you can get more for cheaper some where else but I was in a hurry when I first bought it. I no longer use face wash which has saved me tons of money. You can also mix a little lemon juice in with your moisturizor. I do that once a day and it helps my pores look about 50% smaller. I use fresh lemons though.

  3. I am assuming you are referring to clearing your skin from acne, correct? Or are you talking about pigmentation problems? Drinking water won’t hydrate your skin. You drink a lot and that just means you go to the bathroom more often. Green tea is a nice option, but there is no research that the antioxidants in green tea can treat acne. Besides, there are TRILLIONS of cells that make up what you are, there is no guarantee that the benefits of green tea will go up on your skin. Don’t rely on drinking green tea for skin benefits; you drink it because it can provide internal benefits and it taste good. Acne is mainly a bacterial problem and green tea is not an antibacterial, neither is water, or exercising. But all of those things you do should help reduce the inflammation so keep it up! Topical treatments is the effective way to treat a lot of skin skin problems because you can be sure that your skin is in direct contact with the therapeutic ingredients.

You need a combination approach to skin disorder. You can’t just rely on one cleanser or serum to do the work – no, that will never do. You select your products BASED ON SKIN TYPE. If you’re unsure, take the questionnaire developed by clinical research and board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Leslie Baumann. Register first then take the quiz. Afterward, visit the specified forum that is tailored toward your specified skin type for product recommendation and discussions about skin concerns.

Here is my proposed skin care regimen for your Oily/Combination Skin Type (assuming you know that this is your skin type)

Cleanser (AM/PM) – Olay Foaming Cleanser, Sensitive

Exfoliant (AM or PM) – Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment with 2% salicylic acid. Salicyilic acid functions as a oil-soluble exfoliant, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. Plus, if your have pigmentation problems from acne or sun damage or hormones, then salicylic acid “may” help give “some” improvement over time at this strength.

Acne medication (AM/PM) – If your skin is not familiar with benzoyl peroxide, then you may want to start low. If you have aggressive acne, then start low first for a few weeks and then increase in concentration. Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide (BP) | Oxy Clinical Clearing Treatment with 5% BP | Clean and Clear Persa-Gel with 10% BP. If you have sensitivity to BP, then your alternative is sulfur-based antibacterial, then try Clearasil Stayclear Adult Acne Treatment Cream Tinted with 8% sulfur and 2% resorcinol.

Sunscreen (AM) – this is absolutely important. UV-B can make inflammation worse, aggravating acne as well as make pigmentation worse. UV-A causes wrinkles. Try Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30/45/55. If you have sensitivity to synthetic sun protection, then try Neutrogena Pure & Free Liquid Daily Sunblock SPF 55.

Result can take at least 2 months with DILIGENCE & COMPLIANCE & PATIENCE. If your problems persists, then you have to consult with a board-certified dermatologist for professional help such as phototherapy or lasers or prescription products. And please, have a reasonable expectation, these products or even something you get from the doctor’s office are no miracle, you don’t get clear overnight!
