Clean & Clear and some other brands have Salicylic acid face washes and even a moisturizer with it. I thought the moisturizer sounded like a bad idea, but it really did make me moisturized without being oily.

Also, if you wear makeup, Neutrogena makes makeup with salicylic acid in it. It wouldn’t help with bad acne, but if you just have a little, then it might help. I recommend the powder, because it will help with oiliness too, and you can touch up during the day without looking caked-on like liquid or mousse would.

I have read some similiar questions that dealt with women’s oily skin, but as a guy, I am not going to wear foundation. I used to have severe acne as a teenager, but now that I’m older, the acne has dropped considerably to more of a mild form. However, my skin is grossly oily and I have not been able to find something that controls it all day. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been contemplating the Proactiv solution, but if something exists cheaper and just as effective, I would much rather go that route. Thanks in advance for all the help!

Have you gone to see a dermatologist? It might be that you need something stronger than those over-the-counter medicines/cleansers. If not, then just try different ones until you find the one that works best for you!

I know that everybody no matter what ethnicity can wear sunblock, but I have oily skin, and even oil-free matte sunblock still makes my face shiny. I know its a healthy thing to protect the skin from the sun by what we eat and how we care for our skin. I’m really thinking about quitting sun screen/block. Along with the heat, I feel like its helping me produce more oil on my skin. Its really getting on my nerves!

I work in dermatology and I have tried lots of different moisturizers. The one that I like the best is by CereVe called CereVe PM. It is called PM because it doesn’t have a sunscreen in it. It is commonly sold a Walmart. The CereVe PM contains lots of ingredients that are used to hydrate the skin with out it causing more acne or making it worse.

I have the same skin as you. I’ve tried Mary Kay, BeautiControl, Biore, Neutrogena, ProActive, and Clinique. Clinique and BeautiControl have been my favorites.

One tip that the girl at the Clinique counter gave me is that you always should remove your makeup first. Don’t wash your face with the cleanser until you have washed your face with soap or makeup remover, otherwise you’re just scrubbing dirt into your face. You can get Clinique from any Department store (Belk, Dillards, etc)… hope that helps! 🙂

I have VERY oily skin and it annoys the heck out of me. I break out A TON and always seem to have acne (whether I cover it up with cover up or whatever doesn’t matter. I have recently been looking for a face wash that I can use for my oily skin that will help get rid of my acne. In the past I have not been very diligent with my face cleansers, but I am willing to use it every night if I have to. What, in your expiriences have you found to be the best for oily skin? Thanks!

Look for any brands that specially make acne products (I like clean and clear). Neutrogena is
also good. Look for products that say “deep cleaning”, but if you have sensitive skin, make sure it is formulated for sensitive skin. I recommend neutrogena deep clean oil free gentle scrub or clean & clear foaming facial oil free cleanser. Removing all makeup is also key to clearing up skin. I also love Queen Helene mint julep masque for a few nights a week. It is very effective and you feel very fresh after using it. I love it! Good luck!!

My skin is really acting up lately, very oily! My moisturizer (Clinique Dramatically Different Gel) and sunscreen (La Mer SPF 30 Fluid) are separate, but I find when I use both together, my face is realllly oily. Maybe the sunscreen is enough moisture for my oily skin during the day?

I would suggest looking for an oil free moisturizer that contains SPF.

Well, let me start by saying that I have the same kind of skin, so here’s my advice, but first I need to mention something…
What I’m going to suggest to you is Avocado oil (extra virgin). And here’s why….
1) It’s an incredible moisturizer and not too oily ( you can put it on b4 you go out and it doesn’t show).
2) It heals sun damage.
3) Almost every product on the market contains chemicals that are very toxic in the long run (things that have ‘fragrance’ in it or are just packaged in plastic). Chemicals like Phtalates and Besfinol A are linked to reproductive problems in females in conception, and male deformities in uterus…so even if you plan to have kids in the future, putting these things into your skin now will come back to haunt you.

I’m not here to sound paranoid, but I think it’s important to consider your (better) options, since these trends are already starting to cause problems, and it’s best you avoid them. As for sunscreen, I suggest you find one without “fragrance”, and use this website as a guideline:

I have used the Clinique acne solutions toner for about 3 months now, and I just stopped using it a few days ago and I seems like the face isn’t as oily. Is it normal for a toner to make your skin oily? Is my skin less oily because I just stopped using it, and if I continue not using the toner my skin will get oily again? What’s the reason?

By Odaban spray. It’s a solution that stops sweating. You can get it online, actually, I think its the only place to get it. Anyhow, it stops sweating so it should close those pores ad stop the oil as well. I was prescirbed Drysol for excessive uderarm sweating and have not sweat there for almost 5 years. I tried it on my face, it itched and burned like heck at first, but it worked. I live in Texas and we’ve had tripled digit tempertures for over a month, I havent broke a sweat on my face since using it, and the oil is reduced quite a bit. I also use birth control pills, so that may be what helps with the oil control, due to hormonal changes. But, the odaban spray should not itch and burn because of the method of administration. It also dries the rashes and pimples. It’s usually for body seat but it’s safe for the face as well. This is the only thing I’ve found that works overnight, its magic dude, I wish I could tell the entire world.

okay so i’m going to be going to india as a trip and it will be for a week straight, we will be having a WHOLE load of sun exposure, hiking, growing plants, beach, any sun sport you can think of, Now, I honestly do NOT want to get ANY darker! because I look horrible with tanned skin, I can only stay fair and white, The thing is, on normal regular basis, I use SPF 35, Just you know, for school, hang outs, etc. and around 3 months ago when I went to Langkawi ( which is in malaysia ) I wore SPF 50, When I came home I got a lot darker, and I got a tan, and I honestly looked horrible, I prefer having white, fair skin, this doesn’t mean I want to block every single UV rays, which is impossible, I do want some UV In my skin, just not too much. since SPF 50 didn’t work out for me, I was planning on SPF 70, The ” Neutrogena Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 70″ I’m not sure if it’s good, if you guys have tried it, please tell me how you feel about it, but I’m just worried that SPF 70 Will clog my pores and break out and harm my skin.

* I do not have oily skin, even when it’s around like 40 degrees i will be around combination. no oily at all.

* I am not acne prone skin

* My skin type is NORMAL.

I learned in healthy class that SPF 15 is the same as a higher SPF but the higher ones have more chemicals. I hope i helpeed! 🙂

Try not to tan too much unless you have too! I believe the higher the number on the bottle that you plan to buy indicates the level of protection (like Copper Tone 20 as an imaginary example). Don’t forget the odd UVC ray that sometimes gets through too (the atmosphere protects us from most of these but some of them can slip through too). Also remember that there is a strong correlation between skin cancer and tanning to and too much tanning may give you wrinkles at a younger age than you may desire. I have done some tanning in my past and have also had some very bad sun burns too without any kind of sunblock whatsoever! I’m also interested in science involving the UV spectrum physics and that’s where my knowledge comes from in regards to UV radiation.
